By infusing this home with a delightful medley of earthy materials and textures, Ascend Design has transformed the space into a comforting ‘urban cave’.

Striking details abound in this home. In the living area for instance, a curved television wall conceals unsightly wires and maintains a clean aesthetic. The monolithic structure also carves out an entrance foyer, offering privacy and a sense of anticipation as one enters the home.
This cosy dwelling is designed for a couple who enjoys spending quiet time together. “The house is supposed to have an earthy, natural feel to it, which is why we used materials like real terrazzo flooring and wood-inspired laminates that look a little raw. Limewash paint is also used to create an interior reminiscent of a cave,” says Jasper Goh, Creative Partner at Ascend Design.
Every single corner of this home has been thoughtfully designed. Here in the master bedroom, a timbered headboard, walls in comforting muted shades, and a side lamp in a forest green stone surface come together to evoke an alluringly warm and intimate atmosphere.
There is no one defining aesthetic in this home, but the different spaces do carry a common idea throughout – that of ‘intimacy’. The common bathroom is inspired by neoclassicism where deep green marbled surfaces and bronze fixtures bring in a touch of decadence and mood to the compact space.
