It’s been two weeks since the Lookbox Design Awards (LBDA) 2018 Gala Night. Here’s what happened on the eventful night.
7 December 2018
The second edition of Lookbox Design Awards (LBDA) had the interior design industry’s top names and biggest players gathered to celebrate Singapore’s best.
The winners of the Lookbox Design Awards 2018 were finally announced, and Singapore’s most inspiring designers and homes were honoured. Held at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore, the setting was glamourous, food was scrumptious, prizes were fantastic, everyone looked amazing and had a blast. Were you there to experience it first-hand?
If you weren’t, here’s what you missed.
There’s bound to be a photo wall at every event. But the one at LBDA 2018 Gala Night is unlike any other. Three-dimensional and highly interactive, the creative photo wall was designed by OuterEdit in collaboration with Hafary. It featured rotating columns of tiles, which was really the perfect backdrop to have Ubersnap gif photos taken!
As the host for the Gala Night, Chew Soo Wei lent her distinctive voice and treated the crowd to a fun-filled, entertaining evening.
Kavita Nandan, Managing Director of Indesign Media Asia Pacific, welcomed the 250 guests who were in attendance.
Also, prolific interior designer, Peter Tay, Founder and Design Director of Peter Tay Studio gave a keynote speech, recognising the significance of LBDA as the first independent Singapore-focused interior design award, and the importance of recognising Singapore’s emerging talent.
After rigorous rounds of judging the LBDA 2018, the judges were pleased to attend the Gala Night and celebrate the winners, too.
You probably already know who the winners of the Lookbox Design Awards 2018 are, and here they are looking all pleased with themselves. After all, they’ve earned the bragging rights with this prestigious award!

The LBDA trophies were specially commissioned from the mafi factory in Austria, and each one is truly unique, due to the nature of the material used to make them.
A hint of brass and beautiful wood grains on the beech wood – a winning combination – give the cubic forms character and a timeless design aesthetic.
Six lucky guests even went home with exclusive prizes from LBDA 2018 partners, which rounded off the evening splendidly.
Here’s what they won:
– 1 BOSCH Unlimted handheld vacuum cleaner, worth $1,399, courtesy of BOSCH
