Ikea has been working with some major design heavyweights in recent years, and their highly anticipated collaboration with British designer Tom Dixon is without a doubt something that Ikea fans have been watching for some time.
Launching in April, Delaktig is described as “an aluminium open source ‘platform for living’.” Challenging design norms and the upholstery industry at large, it lets users add to it, or completely change it to suit changing needs and lifestyles.
The system is designed for a modern world that’s in constant flux where its versatility allows users to cope with the unknowns of everyday life; whether it be cramming the books or setting up for a romantic date.
Delaktig is never static. You can add armrests and a lamp, put in a table and a new backrest cover, swap the armrests around, change the backrests, add more cushions, or change the entire cover completely. The options are almost limitless!
