Tappeti Fine Hand-Crafted Rugs + Carpets from Australia is well-known for its superbly crafted, handmade designs, and their latest exclusive collaboration with five esteemed Singapore-based design studios is particularly exciting.
Called the “Tappeti Designer Collective”, it sees the brand partnering with Michael Fiebrich Designs, Elliot James, Ethereall, EightyTwo and Architology to realise highly unique pieces that underscore the individual creativity, perspectives and styles of each studio. Here are the five gorgeous designs.
Acclaimed designer Michael Fiebrich infuses his work with emotion, drawing on global travels and a passion for lasting environments. His style blends natural elements with deep cultural influences, crafting spaces that resonate with meaning.
Drawing on the serenity of nature, Strie embodies the calm of the ocean and the subtle beauty of a sunset. It features a stunning interplay of colours and textures, evoking tranquillity and a profound connection to the natural world.
Highlighting how arts and crafts merge history, tradition and culture into rich stories, it focuses on the vibrant patterns of woven textiles, including yarn dyeing, Indian Ikat weavers, handmade looms and silk weaving. The midnight palette’s blend of blues, greys and whites captures the mysterious depth of night, making it a sophisticated addition to any space.
Elliot Barratt, founder of Elliot James, defines his style with elegance, eclecticism and timelessness. His designs draw on the serene beauty of nature, capturing its essence through refined patterns and textures.
Inspired by woodlands, the Magnifying Nature rug uses contrasting lines and textures to create a striking, abstract design, perfect for complementing timeless interiors. Its minimal, organic style features embossed and woven patterns that echo natural formations. With organic linework in soothing beige and green tones, this rug evokes a sense of tranquillity and harmony, seamlessly blending with its surroundings.
Ethereall’s Hace Chua continually seeks to redefine interior design boundaries, and this collection serves as a platform to challenge preconceived notions, express her individuality, and transform spaces.
Her Fragmented rug is a dynamic design that exudes texture, comfort and warmth. Inspired by the studio’s affinity for raw materials like concrete and cement, it embodies a modern, industrial aesthetic with its fusion of raw, refined and eclectic influences, and play of rough and smooth textures. The monochromatic palette – soft greys and muted tones – reflects a sophisticated, calming vibe, while a pop of cobalt blue adds a bold, energising touch, making it a distinctive statement piece in any modern space.
Terence Neo, founder of EightyTwo, draws his design philosophy from a rich tapestry of cultures and art forms. He often weaves together the six senses to create spaces that nurture and inspire.
His collaboration piece, the Huit, is inspired by the monogram of EightyTwo’s logo. It captures elegance in simplicity, exuding quiet luxury that fosters calm and connection. Its modern minimal design is a balanced interplay of lines – gentle waves, straight paths and concentric circles – creating visual harmony. A soft palette of cream and taupe evokes the timeless tones of sand, emphasising a connection to the earth.
Terrence Quah of Architology is known for blending architectural insight with interior design.
Inspired by the graceful folds of a Chinese paper fan, the Paper Wind rug captures fluid movement and elegant direction. Its organic, contemporary design blends abstract and defined elements, with arcs that evoke the fan’s curves set within a versatile rectangular shape. The sophisticated palette of deep navy, grey and warm beige creates a balanced aesthetic, making this rug a standout piece that seamlessly adapts to a variety of spaces.
Rugs in the “Tappeti Designer Collective” can be customised in shape, size, colour and fibres to suit individual preferences.
