Moving to a new house often means merging the old and the new, both for practical and sentimental reasons. In this newly-built terrace house for a family of four, the designers had to create a fresh new home while still making sure the family’s existing furniture would fit in well. The unifying theme is the use of wood elements and earth tones, resulting in a modern yet timeless design.

Teak furniture became the inspiration for the interior design, leading to a TV wall with laminate that resembles timber panelling. Even the kitchen features wood-grain laminates, but paired with a black quartz countertop. This subdued colour scheme continues in the son’s room, where whites and greys are placed together to enhance the calming ambience.
