There is now a Vitra store in Singapore! Vitra By Grafunkt is the result of a collaboration with local company Grafunkt, and the showroom is a colourful wonderland for fans of the world-renowned furniture brand.
While increasing its geographical presence in Asia, Vitra is constantly looking for passionate partners that can create a strong customer experience, says Morten Joergensen, Vitra’s general manager of Middle East and Asia. It is important as well that the brand’s philosophy of designing the home environment as a collage of “old and new, high and low, classic and contemporary” is identified with, as this creates a vibrant living space with character, Vitra believes.
The Swiss family-owned company is known for its functional, versatile and timeless furniture. Founded in 1950, Vitra has since worked with some of the world’s most notable design icons, from George Nelson, Verner Panton, Isamu Noguchi and Jean Prouve to the Bouroullec brothers, Jasper Morrison and Barber & Osgerby.
Its classic and contemporary pieces can be spotted around the globe, in both public and private spaces – chances are you’ve probably sat in one of the chairs before!
Some of Vitra’s most iconic and sought-after design classics are the Panton chair, Standard chair, Vegetal chair, Grand Repos armchair and La Chaise lounger.
But besides chairs, there are also covetable decor accessories and objects you can get at the store, such as the colourful and quirky hand-painted Wooden Dolls by Alexander Girard, and an array of wall clocks by George Nelson.
As for the 1,940 sqft showroom itself, colour and geometry – think patterned tile flooring and colourblocked partitions – form the perfect backdrop for the brand’s diverse collection to come together.
Vitra By Grafunkt is at #02-32 Millenia Walk, Tel: 6266 3369, www.grafunkt.com.
