Galerie 5 by Sol Luminaire has just opened its doors at 50 Craig Road near hip eateries and cafes, and it’s like an art gallery, lighting showroom and artisanal homeware destination rolled into one!

At their recent launch party, guests got to explore many unique spaces across three levels of the shophouse showroom, with stunning lightscapes, design objects and accompanying video projections waiting to greet them at different corners.

Galerie 5 by Sol Luminaire marks the 5th anniversary of Sol Luminaire’s first gallery at Guillemard Road. More than a lighting store, this brand new 3,800-square-foot showroom is meant to serve as a nexus for creativity, lighting and distinctive spatial experiences.

The interiors are kept deliberately simple and minimalist, but with modern materials incorporated. The space feels organic and ethereal with pristine white and curved walls highlighted by soft lighting, and that smoothly guide visitors from one room to the next to discover something new.

Sol Luminaire has always been a big supporter of craft, and Galerie 5 has partnered exclusively with several artisanal names including Makhno Studio from Ukraine (lamps), Belgian artist llll (lamps), multidisciplinary French artist Frédéric Saulou (furnishing and accessories), and Pittsburgh-based Philip M Soucy (ceramics). At the showroom, visitors can learn more about the different artists and the unique inspirations behind their work.

Sol Luminaire’s system of lighting beliefs or what they call “The Principle of 5” are embedded into the DNA of Galerie 5. It’s a five-dimensional world that encapsulates the synergy between human and object, form and function, design and technology.

Expect to experience light as a medium of various art movements and styles, as its resident brands and artisans evoke new ideas that combine interdisciplinary approaches, material exploration and circadian rhythm to engage all five senses.

At Galerie 5, visitors get to discover the ability of light to create and enhance a space’s dimensional aspect architecturally. Beyond the new and exclusive artisan labels, the showroom widely displays the many different lighting options from architectural lighting brand, AEON, and these are readily available for those looking to do a detailed viewing and light planning.

AEON

New products have also launched under AEON. There’s the Gypsum Globe, a design that draws inspiration from the ‘70s boob lamp, and the Isa V3 Tunable White, the latest variant of the Isa V3 series of customisable downlights with advanced lighting prowess.

Shopping at Galerie 5 is a comfortable affair. There are spacious seating areas so you can take a break and contemplate which design collectible or lighting fixture will be coming home with you!
