It was at the highly anticipated inaugural Lookbox Design Awards (LBDA) Gala Night that the interior design industry’s top names and biggest players gathered to celebrate Singapore’s best.
The winners of the Lookbox Design Awards 2017 were finally announced, and Singapore’s most inspiring designers and homes were honoured. Held at Regent Singapore, the setting was beautiful, food was delicious, prizes were fantastic, everyone looked great and had a blast… were you there to experience it first-hand?
If you weren’t, here’s what you missed.
There was an eye-catching and stylish photo wall, designed by Fable in collaboration with Hafary, with a geometric optical illusion effect. It was really the perfect backdrop to have your Ubersnap gif photos taken!
Guests who captured the two best photos also won a dinner for two at The Kitchen at Bacchanalia, worth $500, courtesy of Gaggenau.
As the host for the Gala Night, Mediacorp CLASS 95 DJ Jean Danker lent her distinctive voice and treated the crowd to a fun-filled, entertaining evening.
Well-known designer Andrea Savage, Partner and Project Director of Design Intervention, gave the keynote speech, recognising the significance of LBDA as the first independent Singapore-focussed interior design award, and the importance of recognising Singapore’s emerging talent.
After the rigorous rounds of judging the LBDA 2017, the judges were pleased to attend the Gala Night and celebrate the winners, too. Even Patrick Macklin flew in all the way from the UK to be part of the special celebration!

You probably already know who the winners and honourable mentions of the Lookbox Design Awards 2017 are, and here they are looking all pleased with themselves. After all, they’ve earned the bragging rights with this prestigious award!

The LBDA trophies were specially commissioned from the Mafi factory in Austria, and each one is truly unique, due to the nature of the material used to make them.
A hint of brass and beautiful wood grains – a winning combination – give the cubic forms character and a timeless design aesthetic.
A special category – Next Gen x Nippon Paint Asia Young Designer Award – was also honoured, to recognise the young, burgeoning talent from Singapore’s design institutions.
15 Golden Tickets for prizes were hidden in the seats for lucky guests to find, which rounded off the evening splendidly with a little surprise.
Here’s what they won:
– 5 Kartell Take table lamps, worth $170 each, courtesy of Million Lighting

Guests were delighted with the scrumptious nosh served up by award-winning restaurant Basilico. Throughout the evening, the three-course dinner helped pace all the excitement over the awards.
All in all, it was a fantastic celebration and a great way to end 2017 on a high and hopeful note.
