Past the stretch of popular eateries along Upper Thomson Road is the self-contained business hub known as Midview City. This eight-storey compound houses, among other things, offices, restaurants, stores and even a child-care centre. Also adding to the mix are many furniture shops and interior design firms, of which we visited three.
As champions of the beauty of nature, Lava East offers bespoke furniture, sculptures and lighting fixtures that are made from natural materials. Even the cavernous showroom – with its mezzanine floor – is clad in industrial surfaces and organic surfaces that promote the company’s belief in the aesthetics and power of nature.
Here, you can find bespoke timber furniture, including large slab tables and benches, as well as light fixtures that make a bold statement. If you’re looking for artwork, Lava East also carries intriguing sculptures that are the perfect complement to a contemporary home.
When you’re at the showroom, don’t be afraid to experience the space with your sense of touch. You’re encouraged to feel the materials, be it polished wood or the rough texture of concrete slabs. Best of all, almost all the furniture pieces at Lava East are customisable.

With its range of home fittings and interior components, The Ewins Home helps homeowners to fully utilise their space to its maximum capability. It’s only fitting that the showroom was recently revamped to better show how interior fixtures can make a space more efficient and organised.
Part of the showroom has been transformed into the Raumplus flagship store in Singapore, and showcases the German manufacturer’s range of sliding doors, room dividers and interior systems. Here, one can see how Raumplus system can neatly organise a wardrobe, utilise the corners in a room, or provide sliding doors for that tricky space beneath the stairs.
Apart from Raumplus systems, The Ewins Home also carries other essentials including kitchen systems, LED light fixtures, office furniture and premium panels from in-house brand Veromobi. Almost everything you see in the showroom is for sale, including the accessories that are used to style the mock-up rooms. These range from the beanbags on the floor to the ornaments sitting on the shelves. Also, check out the Delica range of tableware comprising trays and other homeware made from beautiful wood veneer.

If you’re looking for something with a bit more colour, check out Forest.sg. Here you’ll find an eclectic collection of home accessories and oil paintings, all designed to give your home a cheery pop of colour. There is also a small selection of furniture pieces in the store, including a luxe chaise longue and an equally handsome Chesterfield armchair.
The true star of Forest.sg however, is the large collection of accessories and ornaments. Everything ranging from handmade model cars to contemporary wall clocks and even stylishly trendy table lamps can be found here. Look a little closer and you’ll also uncover some hidden gems, including quirky kitchenware and cushion covers.
Art remains one of the main draws of Forest.sg, with colourful oil paintings from a variety of emerging artists. You can easily find something that’s appropriate for your home from the large variety that ranges from pop art quirkiness to the more sombre still-life paintings.
