If you’re like most homeowners, you’d be familiar with the experience of having to pore over paint colour options for your home. However, despite paint being an important aspect in any home renovation, not many may be aware of the deep science and research that often go into the making of this product.
For more than 55 years, the Singapore-based R&D team at Nippon Paint have been making it their mission to create paint products that not only look good, but that also protect our homes, family and environment.
These three technologically-advanced paints show how the company has got every major scenario covered
#1 Odourless paint
The strong smell of fresh, wet paint is a common complaint amongst homeowners. Paint fumes – which are most problematic when the liquid ingredients in the paint have yet to dry – contain air polluting Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) which is known to cause dizziness, headaches, and eye and respiratory irritation. It can also be harmful to the unborn child.
To address the issue, Nippon Paint has created a range of odour-less paints with a breakthrough formula that reduces VOC levels to almost zero. These high-performance, water-based paints are also ammonia- and heavy metal-free, anti-bacterial, fungal-resistant, and contain no lead or mercury, ensuring that all you get to experience are beautiful, long-lasting colours without worry.
#2 Easy breezy maintenance
Taking it a step further, Nippon Paint Odour-less Easywash doesn’t just feature almost zero VOC levels that ensure virtually no odour during and after painting, as well as all the other benefits listed above; this low-sheen paint provides excellent coverage and boasts twice the washability of conventional interior paints, which makes it perfect for households that require frequent cleaning – such as ones with large families or kids. The secret lies in the incorporation of Teflon™ surface protector technology that allows you to wash off dirt and stains easily and more effectively than ever.
#3 Dengue protection
Dengue is a serious health hazard in tropical countries such as Singapore. To help protect our homes and our health, Nippon Paint has created MozzieGuard, a paint product with a special coating of insecticide that has an excellent knockdown property against Aedes mosquitoes through contact. The NEA-registered paint is also, importantly, designed to be safe for consumer use. Along with dengue protection, the paint features good stain, fungal and mould resistance, low odour, and has a durable and washable film.
Besides offering beautiful colours, Nippon Paint products clearly carry many high-tech and useful features as well. So the next time you’re looking to paint your walls, do check out what your paint can really do for you.
