With a spacious floor plan, it’s easy to go overboard when designing your home. The designers at Van Hus Interior Design, however, balanced well-appointed features and efficient space planning, for this home that combines two adjacent HDB flats.
Shades of white and pale wood, as well as crisp, clean-lined forms give the home a modern look, with touches of industrial and Scandinavian-inspired styles.
For a family that enjoys cooking, the galley kitchen has been well planned, to ensure that workflow isn’t compromised and that appliances are within easy reach. A considered mix of textures and colours – subway tiles, concrete screed, off-white laminates and wood-look flooring – give the space character.
Throughout the rest of the home, a subtle play on geometry is seen. From the Italian wood-look tiles laid out in a herringbone pattern in the entrance foyer and the “floating” storage cabinets with a linear strip design in the living area, to the horizontally and vertically staggered subway tiles with contrasting grouting in the bathroom, the interesting effects make for spatial focal points.
