The living space in this maisonette was enlarged by incorporating the balcony and having an open peninsula kitchen counter – rather than walls – to demarcate the kitchen and dining area. Full-height carpentry painted in soothing blue layers the home with charming details like arches and slats while ensuring adequate storage space for the home.
As the original maisonette was dark and gloomy, the designers overhauled the entire space, giving it a modern and refreshed look with bold colours, textures and arched walls that suit the homeowners’ sunny personalities and practical needs.
The designers combined two common bedrooms to create a spacious master bedroom with a segmented sleeping zone and walk-in wardrobe. In the bedroom, woody textures stand out against trendy Klein blue walls, calling to mind island living. Decorative elements add texture and character to the home.
On the second floor, the common and master bathrooms were reconfigured to allow the latter to fit a bathtub and his and her basins. The top half of the toilet wall is clad with matte navy subway tiles from Hafary, and goes well with the light pink carpentry and black and white mosaic floor tiles. Subtle gold finishes and inlays accent the bathroom and complete the distinctive colour scheme.
