A first for Singapore, the Lookbox Design Awards is here to recognise the best and brightest talents that are pushing the boundaries in the field of home interior design, right here on our shores.
16 May 2017
Over the years, we’ve brought our readers inside many stunning Singaporean homes, and offered up a myriad ideas and inspiration for their own renovation journey. Along the way, we ourselves have been hugely inspired by the work, dedication and growth of our local interior design firms.
That’s one of the main reasons we’ve launched the Lookbox Design Awards (LBDA). We’ve designed it to fill a gap in the market for a competition dedicated solely to recognising the great home interior design projects in Singapore, and the talented people behind them.
The LBDA is all about celebrating progressive ideas, human-centred interior solutions and inspiring spaces that are considered, thoughtful and sensitively designed for living well.
As a design award, the LBDA is itself highly designed. LBDA’s unique brand DNA and programme has been crafted by our team of editors and creatives, while a highly respected and diverse jury panel compromising interior designers, architects, academics and editors from Singapore and the Asia Pacific region have been chosen to bring a rich perspective to the judging table. Steve Leung, Founder of Steve Leung Designers, and President of the International Federation of Interior Architects/ Designers (IFI); Peter Tay, Founder of Peter Tay Studio; Kelley Cheng, Founder and Creative Director of The Press Room; Colin Seah, Founder and Director of Design at Ministry of Design; and Patrick Macklin, Head of the Interior Design department at The Glasgow School of Art are just some of the jurors of the inaugural LBDA 2017.
The award categories include Outstanding HDB Flat, Outstanding Private Apartment, Outstanding Landed Home, Best Space for Entertaining, Best Space for Retreat, and more. LBDA will also be awarding the title of Interior Design Firm of the Year to the firm that is making strong strides and contributing outstandingly to Singapore’s home interior design scene.
