We’re getting our cameras ready for these creative installations that’ll be at this year’s Singapore Indesign event

Incredible installations you’ll see at Singapore Indesign 2016

We’re pumped up for this year’s Singapore Indesign! The one-day design adventure takes place on 8 October and has never failed to impress! One of our favourite things to do at Singapore Indesign 2016 is to check out the cool installations that get everyone talking. Over the last few years, we’ve seen some eye-opening, all waiting to be snapped and shared on Instagram and Facebook.

This year, the Lookbox team managed to get a sneak peek (drawings, renderings, prototypes and other work-in-progress pictures) at some of this year’s installations, from. Here’s what we’re looking forward to seeing!

Spectrum by Sunbrella

Singapore-Indesign_Sunbrella_Project2Fabric specialists Sunbrella will use its weather-proof textiles to create this larger-than-life installation at the Curated Space at 72-13 Mohamed Sultan Road. A cascade of cubes is suspended from the high ceiling, showcasing Sunbrella’s take on upcoming colour trends. We can’t wait to walk through the interactive exhibition and have a hands-on experience with the premium fabric’s legendary durability, fade resistance and ease of cleaning.

Pilotis by Kvadrat and Doshi Levien

London design studio Doshi Levien collaborated with Kvadrat to come up with its first curtain collection. To mark the collection’s debut in Asia, Kvadrat will unveil an architectural installation called Pilotis. By combining smooth, textured and perforated fabrics, the design duo plays with light, shape and layers to create a futuristic installation. Pilotis first debuted at the London Design Festival with great accolades, so we can’t wait to see it in Singapore.

DEMATERIAL by EDL and ipli Architects

We’re especially partial to creative installations that take something familiar and transforms it into something completely unexpected. Laminate supplier EDL joins forces with ipli Architects to take over the facade of Space Furniture showroom, distorting it through pixellation. We’re not sure what’s going to happen, but we can’t wait to see it!

cloud FORMation by Kreon and Studiogoto

Lighting developers Kreon is working hand-in-hand with Studiogoto to come up with a light installation that will take over its showroom. Step inside a big, black box and come face-to-face with puffy clouds that gently sway in the “wind” as you make your way through. Those blue scribbles on the drawing above represent a series of blue and black strings that interact with the “clouds” to cast beautiful lighting effects.

Aurora by Scandinavian Business Seating and Andrew Loh Design

Scandinavian Business Seating’s showroom will be transformed into a Nordic wonderland with an installation that mimics the beautiful yet mystical Northern Lights. Andrew Loh Design uses wood materials from Panelogue to create the structure, and we really can’t wait to see the finished product!

Many more installations and activities have been lined up for this year’s Singapore Indesign, and we can’t wait to be pleasantly surprised as we make our way along the design trail. You can find out what else you can see at SGID16 here.

Lookbox Living will also be at SGI16! If you’re heading to this year’s event, keep an eye out for the Lookbox Living Paparazzi. They’ll be handing out cooking from Kith and snapping photos of the event. Pose for a Polaroid picture and upload the snapshot on your Instagram and Facebook accounts. Use the right hashtags (#SGID16) and you’ll automatically be in the running to win a Blocks Stacking Drawer worth $670 from OM Furniture.

Catch us at Singapore Indesign on 8 October!
