Form follows function in this three-storey house at Jalan Gumilang. Designed for a young family who has returned home from a stint in London, this house is where the family takes time out to re-energise in one another’s company. They engaged interior design firm Habitat One to fit it out with practical solutions and simple stylistic touches. The designer came up with the idea to create a sleek home that takes inspiration from posh London residences.
A wall of natural volakas white marble for the TV feature stretches four metres across with a height of over two metres, and becomes a natural accompaniment to the veneer-clad console. By keeping the furnishings to a minimum, the team enhanced the sense of space.
Other highlights of the house include the additional kitchen pantry on the second floor, a second entertainment room with large sliding glass doors and a master bedroom that exudes calm in its simplicity.
