Woody accents in the home of a young couple breathe homeliness into its contemporary, industrial palette
5 March 2013
The words ‘industrial’ and ‘modern’ usually do not go together in the same sentence, with the former connoting a palette that is raw and laid-back and, the latter, something sleeker and polished. Yet, when a young couple approached interior design firm Degree Interior to design their apartment, such a space was precisely what they requested.
To accomplish the industrial look, an epoxy-sealed cement screed finish was used for the living room floor, and above, two rows of black track lights lie flush against a centre beam. For a modern touch, the row of shoe cabinets is finished in a glossy white laminate, which also appears on the kitchen cabinet doors.
