Project type: 3-bedroom condominium unit
Floor area: 1,200sqft

Chris Zhang, Design Director at Plush Interior Design, has put together a light colour scheme that is anything but one-dimensional in this condo belonging to a married couple with a young child. For instance, at the front entrance, he inserted fluted panels highlighted by soft illumination and created a standout wall feature to anchor a space-saving settee with storage

Fluted panels have also been applied to the island counter. There is practical storage installed within this fixture, which works well in the newly-enlarged kitchen. Chris says of this refreshed layout: “We demolished some walls to create a larger and more comfortable kitchen for the homeowners who cook regularly.”

The kitchen’s odd shape becomes a lot less conspicuous with the sleek addition of bi-fold glass doors. With the doors open, the kitchen sheds its utilitarian purpose as a space for cooking and cleaning, and becomes part of the communal zone. To uphold the inviting ambience, Chris reduced visual distractions by masking the storeroom entrance with a hidden swing-in door.

Chris decided to link the master bathroom and walk-in wardrobe to optimise the room’s layout. A hidden swing-in door leading into the wardrobe factors in more privacy for this dressing area. In the bathroom, fluted details add texture to the minimalist and pristine space.
