This flat is home to a married couple who entertain on a regular basis. Taking into account their gregarious personalities, the designers from Poetus conceptualised a free-flowing space where they could accommodate their guests in style and comfort. One of the rooms has been converted into a glass-enclosed multi-purpose area and the see-through effect amplifies the expanse of space.
Now set in an open-concept layout, the previously-enclosed kitchen is anchored by an outstanding island counter. It is framed by a backing which serves as a backsplash for the sink as well as a protective guard for the counter. On the other side, a series of woodgrain panels is well-contrasted against the teal-coloured walls. Two of these panels function as sliding doors to the rooms.
On these unique cabinetry doors, the designers say: “We sourced for these vintage wall mouldings – a design that was pretty much ‘extinct’.” What they did next was spray paint it in classic black and then repurpose it as usable cabinet doors for the kitchen island.
