A BTO flat with gorgeous curves

This BTO flat embraces you like a cloud. The spaces are light and airy, and the gentle colours and curves give off a comforting quality that’s particularly desirable for those who lead active and hectic lives.

The owners of this four-room unit are a young working couple, and when it came to their design vision, the lady of the house had many ideas. “They were like pieces of a puzzle, and it was our job to solve that puzzle with her,” says interior designer Alson Tan from Couple Abode.

“Their initial brief was for a whitewashed and airy Mediterranean home with homey vibes. It had to look good but also function well. After meeting with the client however, we found that the design direction they were looking for wasn’t exactly Mediterranean, but rather a fusion of Scandinavian, Art Deco and Modern French style,” notes Alson.

With the goal being to create a breezy and spacious home, the designer has demolished the walls to the enclosed kitchen, and the flat now feels open and is so much brighter. Curves on carpentry, furniture and various design elements create welcoming spaces and improve the flow from one zone to the next. Organic shapes, fluted panel designs (for texture), a muted colour palette and gold accents (for a touch of luxe) come together harmoniously and reflect the desired fusion of styles.

The dining area faces a cosy pantry area and sits right next to the kitchen, offering greater convenience and making it easier to get food to the table. The kitchen itself, once enclosed, is now open and bigger, encouraging ease of movement while cooking.

The original entrance to one bedroom has been closed off, and is now instead connected directly to the master bedroom to serve as the couple’s walk-in wardrobe with enough room for a huge wall-to-wall closet. A smaller wardrobe resides in the bedroom, ensuring that the couple has ample space for all their clothes.

A beautiful interplay of lines and organic shapes make the master bathroom an absolute stunner. Gold accents lend a touch of luxury to the soothing and monochromatic interior, and the space feels like an oasis, much like the rest of this tranquil BTO flat.
