Layer by layer, this apartment by OMG Atelier builds on a brief of openness and balance — merging feng shui principles with a soft, expressive palette.

What happens when a homeowner’s wishlist blends the soft femininity of pink, the glamour of gold, and feng shui principles of flow and separation? For this three-bedroom apartment designed by OMG Atelier, the requirements appeared fairly simple though in some ways conflicting – open up the kitchen, introduce curves, and weave in a pink-and-gold palette – and called for careful choreography.
To achieve the open layout, walls enclosing the kitchen and yard were removed to merge the space with the dining and living zones, while a long utility counter was tucked neatly into the new kitchen layout. The master bedroom was expanded by reconfiguring its entrance and absorbing the adjacent common bedroom, creating space for a walk-in wardrobe. Another bedroom was converted into a study that doubles as a guest room, and the bathrooms were left structurally untouched.
Instead of doors or partitions, the designers maintained spatial separation through colour and texture. Three tones of microcement were used to define the foyer, kitchen, and living area, curving softly into one another to honour the client’s feng shui preferences. These transitions not only guide the eye but also invite movement through the space, each zone marked by its own gentle rhythm.
In the foyer, light pink flooring anchors full-height taupe cabinets and a curved bench clad in beige tile. The pink reappears more boldly in the kitchen island – a tiled monolith that intersects with the dining table in a gesture that mirrors the foyer bench. Burnt cinnamon tones rise from the countertop into the backsplash grout, framed by clean off-white upper cabinets.
A soft grey floor grounds the living room, allowing the daylight from sliding balcony doors to take centre stage. A circular cut-out in the TV console doubles as a nook for the client’s cats – a recurring nod to both functionality and charm.
As one moves deeper into the apartment, the palette transitions into warmer neutrals. The walk-in wardrobe features light woods, fluted glass, and gold-accented curves. In the bedroom, darker tones and dusty pink curtains add a layer of intimacy. A fluted timber headboard floats against a backdrop of beige limewash, continuing the motif of gentle texture.
Throughout, recurring elements like fluted surfaces and mosaic tiles bring cohesion to the layered composition. These small but deliberate gestures – in cabinetry, curtains, blinds and built-ins – form a quiet visual language.
What started as a fairly straightforward renovation brief becomes, in execution, a richly textured home that balances the structured with the serene.
