From catwalk to your apartment! Heads up fashionistas, you’ll soon be able to make a sartorial statement at home when the new Gucci Décor collection launches in September.
18 July 2017
Gucci has just announced the global launch its new Gucci Décor collection of furniture and furnishings in September.
The eclectic range of objects doesn’t prescribe to a particular decorative look. Rather Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele has created elements that allow for customisation and a flexible approach to decoration, similar to brand’s DIY programme for clothes and accessories, where customers are invited to customise pieces by applying decorative details.
The collection displays Gucci’s contemporary romanticism boldly with a multitude of design motifs now familiar from Michele’s catwalk. All the patterns, colours, designs and decorative tropes are inspired by his fashion collections, only now reimagined for furniture, furnishings and crockery.
Each object breaks the rule with a surprising and joyous combination of hue, pattern and design. Pieces of text make the occasional appearance, and the influence of the Gucci Garden lexicon is everywhere, with flora blooming abundantly and creatures appearing everywhere – on screens, cushions and teapots.
The smaller porcelain pieces are produced by Richard Ginori, the renowned Florentine company founded in 1735.
Gucci Décor will be rolled-out progressive worldwide from September 2017 in Gucci flagship stores, online at gucci.com and selected specialty stores. No dates yet on its availability in Singapore, but Milan, Paris, London, New York, Japan, Hong Kong and China are some of the locations that will soon be carrying the collection, if you happen to be travelling!
