Designed by SPIRE  for a young couple, this four-room HDB unit features a clean and simple design that’s easy to maintain. The flat enjoys a Scandi-style aesthetic thanks to the use of light woods and a pristine colour palette. However, design touches in the form of traditional kopitiam dining chairs and table, and the cheery blue patterned tiles lining the kitchen island counter also give this home a unique personality that’s all its own.

The open-concept kitchen makes the entire flat feel all the more spacious. This cookspace comes with plenty of well thought-out functional storage to keep clutter out of sight, and even includes a pull-out worktop for the rice cooker. “We’ve considered the best ergonomic height for accessing the worktop, while still keeping in mind the overall look and design of the island counter. It was a bit of a challenge, but we managed to achieve the best of both worlds,” shares the SPIRE design team.

The master bedroom follows the same clean-lined aesthetic with woodgrain patterned surfaces and white dominating the space. This room is separated into a sleeping area and a wardrobe cum study zone by way of a black framed, clear glass sliding door divider that gives a sense of demarcation while letting light and views through.

SPIRE’s fine carpentry services come to the fore in this room. For one, the bedhead feature wall may look simple, but fine workmanship has gone into the making of it. “It’s made up four pieces of laminate finishes, and we worked to ensure that the joint lines and wood veins nicely joined up for a seamless look,” say the designers. The same level of workmanship has gone into the making of the wardrobe’s unique handles, which were done entirely by hand.

With great attention to detail, and the incorporation of unique design elements, the SPIRE design team has given the homeowners a calm and relaxing home that they can truly call their own.
