When the Design 4 Space team was entrusted with the renovation of this brand new BTO flat for a young married couple, they were briefed to conceptualise a pretty-in-pink Hello Kitty sanctuary.
However, too much pink would be an overkill and they proposed to weave in some Nordic design influences for a more balanced look. A light-coloured brick wall establishes the Scandinavian style in the dining space while dreamy blushes of pastel pink applied into the shared communal zones complement the Scandi look to good effect.
The female homeowner had requested for a Hello Kitty-themed TV console. Taking on a more restrained approach, the designers outlined the console with minimalistic lines in soft pink, which shape the head of the world’s most well-loved cat. The candy colour is applied onto the ‘floating’ TV console too.
A good source of natural light adds to the dreamy appeal of the Hello Kitty-inspired design elements in the living zone. Blinds in contrasting pink and white tones diffuse any harsh daylight and create a cosy room setting. Adding warmth to the space is the wood-look vinyl flooring that also resonates well with the Scandinavian style.
To maximise the storage potential of this home for two, a full-height cabinet occupies a recessed wall in the living space. The pink wall backing contrasts well with the light wood-look finish cabinet doors.
Hello Kitty reigns in the master bedroom as well but it is paired with muted colours for a more subdued look. These soothing neutrals are employed to cultivate a calming ambience in the sleeping area. They also serve as a great backdrop for the Hello Kitty-themed padded headboard. The minimal furnishing and streamlined design are the cornerstones to the success of this Hello Kitty meets Scandi style home.
