Eames Soft Pad & Executive Chairs
by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller
The Soft Pad & Executive, the cushier cousins of the Eames Aluminium Group, made their debut in 1969, and their simple lines, innovative use of materials, and suspension comfort have ensured their place as one of the most popular seating choices for both offices and homes for more than 50 years.
#1 Innovative suspension creates a firm, flexible ‘sitting pocket’ that conforms subtly to the body’s shape. The suspension is created by stretching a continuous piece of seat-back upholstery tautly between lightweight aluminium side ribs. The foam cushions of the Soft Pad chairs will not flatten or clump over time.
#2 The one-piece, curved aluminium side ribs and die-cast aluminium base makes the chair strong, yet lightweight and easy to move around.
#3 Pneumatic lift and tilt lock are available as options on the management and executive models.
