Pushing the limits of what we think of when it comes to light fixtures, Planet Lamp is a functional light object and decorative sculpture with elements that you can switch around whenever you feel like creating something new.
This distinctive light fixture comes from young Danish design company Please Wait to be Seated, which is carried in Singapore exclusively by Cult Design.
With a focus on creating high-quality and well-crafted objects that will stand the test of time, Please Wait to be Seated aims to introduce products with the potential to become classics.
For Planet Lamp, the company worked with award-winning Danish architect Mette Shelde, who is known for rethinking the conventional and for producing designs that are both sensorial and functional.
The fixture is composed of a vertical steel bar and discs of vibrant colours that are attached by magnets and can therefore be moved around to your liking. Minimalist and elegant, yet with a touch of playfulness, the lamp gives off an indirect soft ambient light and casts different types of shadows on the wall depending on the disc configuration.
Planet Lamp features a solid brass disc and a polished aluminium disc, and you get to choose a third powder coated coloured steel disc in any one of these five lovely options: Cedar Green, Electric Blue, Fig Purple, Jaipur or Navy Blue.
The lamp makes a beautiful statement piece in the living room, and is a great source of ambient light in the bedroom to set a restful mood.
