The second collection from homegrown furniture brand SCENE SHANG includes a dining range and chairs to match.
A modern interpretation of the retro red, blue and white string chair, the Jia Ju Chair combines local nostalgia with the silhouette of classic Ming Dynasty design. Capped with recessed Horse Hoof leg details, this chair carries a harmonious combination of traditional Chinese design elements and old-school looks reworked with modern sensibility.
Inspired by the simple beauty of the stool – a mobile piece of home furniture, and the memory of rocking rattan horses from childhood, this Jia Ju Rocking Stool can be used as a dining stool or sat astride like a rocking horse. Created with adults in mind, the rocking stool provides users with a way to share or reminisce on childhood memories and build new stories.
The stool also features cleanly finished joints that recall the artistry of Ming Dynasty craftsmanship in mortise and tenon joinery.
