Project G Cube is a newly launched social enterprise that wants to bring urban farming to every household. Their solution, the G Cube Cultivator, is designed with the latest agricultural technology to control key growth parameters for leafy greens and herbs.
Once limited to the world’s top research institutions and agencies, Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) is touted as the latest development in agricultural methodology and is being adopted by many indoor vertical farms sprouting up around the world.
According to Project G Cube, CEA is validated by astronauts and it is now being used by large industrial farms in dedicated warehouses and by professional farms in smaller shipping containers. This technology enables the environment to grow crops that were previously not climatically ideal for local production.
With the G Cube Cultivator, this CEA technology has been condensed into an accessible device that fits into a corner of your home — 4 sqft of linear space, to be exact. For beginners, the Cultivator automatically regulates temperature, humidity and lights with a simple push of a button. It can be further customised to suit the needs of advanced growers.
The G Cube Cultivator promises that you can grow your own fresh produce without harmful chemicals, at a rate of 32 heads of leafy greens every 10 days. “Our Cultivator is a simple yet elegant solution to address food sustainability, safety, security and justice issues,” says Project G Cube.
