You might think that there’s not much you can do with a small home, especially if you have a big family living there. But design firm and homeware retailer Egg3 has made it a point to make sure that this 3-room condominium apartment looks stylishly chic and modern.

One of the biggest considerations in this 883-sqft home is the lack of space. The most important thing to remember is not to fill up the rooms with big, bulky furniture. In this home, the designers even made do without a coffee table in the living room, leaving an empty floor space that the kids can play around in. Similarly, they chose a compact dining table, and even opted for wall treatments instead of bulky feature walls.

Another way to get the most out of a small space is to make sure you utilise every inch of available space, while still making sure you have enough space to move around the house. While the floor area in this home may be small, clever use of space means that the designers managed to fit in a baby grand piano. A niche in the corridor becomes the new home for the piano, and to complete the look, the designers built storage cabinets and even a study desk around the music instrument.

The streamlined carpentry is yet another way to make the most of a small space. The designers customised all the shelves, cupboards and cabinets to make sure that no wasted space is left over. The best example can be seen in the bedroom, where bay shelves are lined along the windows to make use of the wall-to-wall window span.
