Home Type: 3-bedroom condominium

Floor Area: 1,100 sqft

Living in a buzzing city like Singapore can make the idea of a relaxing and tranquil home seem like tall challenge. However, designer Montie Mahtani from M3 Studio was able to give the family living in this 3-bedroom executive condominium this very thing though the employment of some simple but well considered interventions.

To promote a sense of calm and relaxation in the living and dining areas, the walls are clad with feature panels in contemporary wood colours, but in a natural stone textured finish. To complete the look, the design studio custom-made a dining table by pairing a glass top with an elliptical sphere made from wood. Monti and his team also designed a built-in bench with additional storage for everyday use.

Monti maximised the balcony views of the swimming pool and accompanying greenery by turning this area into a peaceful spot for the family to retreat to. Floor decking and planter shelves were incorporated which, when combined with the owners’ outdoor furniture, enforces a rustic, back-to-nature vibe.

The daughter’s bedroom is a creative space, defined by cheery turquoise on the walls and ceiling. To give the teenager her own private space, Montie designed a platform bed clad in rustic wood laminates, and fitted it with hidden storage. He also created a wraparound feature that cocoons the sleeping space, adding to the feeling of privacy.

The bathroom was significantly transformed. Its original entrance was adjusted and the door replaced with a sliding option. This instantly freed up more floor space. Montie also shares that previously, the vanity was next to the WC. By relocating the washbasin, he could build a bigger and more functional vanity counter.

Now all the family had to do was sit back, relax and enjoy their ‘holiday home’.
