Ideas for a Child’s Wonderland

Pick out a room that’s easy and fun to work on: your kid’s bedroom is ideal.

Who can resist a Winnie The Pooh wall, with a bay window to climb on, too?

Both show that while colour and ergonomics are important, it’s the details that truly make a child’s room a wonderland. It’s certainly more than just painting a brightly-hued feature wall and putting in some child-sized furniture. Consider such details:

A designer rocking horse, from Magis, for example, is both fantasy and function for a child. When he outgrows it, it’s a statement piece you can put anywhere else in your home.

A couple of differently shaped, graphic poufs, from Foundry, encourages children to exercise their imagination as they sit and pretend-play or make up their own fairytales.

A side table made of oversized playing cards, by Seletti from Lifestorey, would be the perfect accent piece to an Alice In Wonderland themed room. Think upcycled teacup lights, an oversized clock, a white rabbit soft toy.

Fun wall-hung shelves attached at a height that’s easily accessible to the little one — teaches them to sort and tuck away their things at an early age!

Don’t forget to allocate a study zone with a good task lamp, a bed that’s ergonomically ideal for growing bodies (there’s some science behind that), and child-safe materials like antibacterial laminates or zero-VOC paints, washable area rugs and air purifiers.
