Peter’s Playground conceived by Studio GSA is a residence that places marble at the centre of its material palette. Located in Bengaluru, the home is tailored for a client with expertise in stone, using marble as both a structural and decorative element throughout.
The lift foyer sets the tone with a relief marble feature wall and a wooden bench. A textured wooden door leads into the main vestibule, where silvery marble flooring with a black inlay delineates a formal entrance. A veneered storage unit provides functional organisation without disrupting the design, while a marble and metal table and a framed mirror add refinement.
The family and dining areas integrate fluted wooden panels with marble flooring, creating a consistent visual language. The dining area features an inlaid marble floor that eliminates the need for a rug, while the family area includes a television unit framed in relief marble cladding. The formal living room incorporates plush leather seating and fluted wooden panels on the ceiling, with a concealed bar clad in silver river marble.
Marble, unsurprisingly, is used extensively in the bathrooms, incorporating a mix of fluted, lapatro and leather finishes to create textural contrast. In the kitchen, bold red marble with expressive veining serves as a statement feature, with each slab selected to highlight its natural pattern.
Bedrooms are designed with individual preferences in mind. The master bedroom features a neutral beige palette. One child’s bedroom incorporates a blue accent wall, while another includes a custom-built bunk bed and blue onyx details. The guest room maintains a softer, pastel-toned aesthetic.
The design balances marble with warm materials, including fluted wood and leather, ensuring the space remains inviting despite the dominance of stone. The result is a highly curated interior that reflects both the homeowner’s appreciation for marble and the studio’s precision in execution.
