Offering chic facilities that spark inspiration and productivity, OVON’s multifunctional showroom at Balestier caters to co-working and event space possibilities.

Interior design firm OVON’s latest showroom at a shophouse in Balestier is a beautiful and minimalist space. It is a sleek departure from their posh Joo Chiat Place showroom which follows a darker colour scheme. The other difference is that this showroom is also meant to serve as a co-working or event space for up to 26 users.
For starters, it is well-equipped with a kitchen and a pantry housing a wine chiller, a coffee machine and an integrated fridge. The OVON design team had a marble slab imported from Italy for the kitchen backsplash, and its spectacular veining punctuates the all-white custom cabinetry with striking sophistication.
At the heart of the kitchen is a Dekton countertop with a characterful distressed finish. Its warm colour scheme accompanied by soft lighting makes this a hotspot for everyone to converge.
A collaborative area for discussions with clients and possibly hot-desking is an elongated tabletop decked in Lapitec sintered stone. It features a rounded cutout to host foliage and these biophilic elements are aimed at fostering a lively environment.
The community-centred showroom also offers booth seating with a bespoke installation of padded backrests.
Demarcated by noise-dampening curtains and engineered wood panels is the private meeting room for formal discussions. It is connected to the materials library via a concealed door.
A sweeping sink counter extends through the wet and dry zones of the bathroom. The design team chose concealed sanitaryware such as the tankless WC and seamless shower fittings to align with the minimalist aesthetic.
An understated design composition highlighting the exquisite strokes of natural stone, this vanity setup showcases the designers’ ability to draw out beauty through crisp and simple lines.
The 1800-square-foot showroom is clad in microcement finishes to advocate a bright and spacious appeal. Its clean-lined backdrop also establishes a gallery-like setting perfect for switching up the space with new decorative accents for different seasons.
The main entertaining area is furnished with plush seating, a short throw projector and dark marble ledges that emulate the comforts of home. OVON’s creative director Raymond Soh says: “We wanted this showroom to embody a home-like setting that focuses on lighting and ambience.” This meant that the space had to be conducive for entertaining guests and impressing clients, so it is outfitted with a smart lighting system to project various moods in the rooms.
More seating is incorporated behind the entertaining space, near the front entrance of the showroom.
Padded seating elevates the comfort of this tiered communal space, while diffused daylight enters via curved design features to play up the serenity of this minimalist space.
