One of things we did while working on The Luxe Issue was to ask ourselves this question: how do we define luxury today? Is it all about bling and extravagance and how something looks, or do we want something more?
We discovered that being able to sit back and relax, and connect with loved ones is important and highly prized in this day and age of ‘faster is better’, and ‘more is more’.
So what is modern luxury? It’s all about well thought out design solutions that promote a sense of well-being, and help us slow down and enjoy the moment. In homes, we’re seeing a greater desire for spaces that evoke a sense of calm, that are comfortable, and that create more opportunities for meaningful family interactions. There’s a yearning for simplicity and to be closer to nature, too.
Story highlights in this issue include
#1 Six homes that convey luxury in different ways, including a landed home with a tree house and an outdoor dining/living/social space; a townhouse that taps on a nostalgic dream; a home with a pitched ceiling; and a sophisticated and comfortable apartment that can be both open and private depending on the need.
#2 Inspiring design ideas from hotels, resorts, spas and cafes that you can replicate at home.
#3 Iconic lighting objects to beautify your space.
#4 Beautifully handcrafted furniture, and little indulgences that’ll look great in homes big or small.
#5 Chairs that have been specially engineered with comfort in mind.
