Aside from a preference for a modern look and a spacious feel, the family of three who owns this new flat also wanted mire storage and to add an entertainment room. Designer Alan Yap from AC Vision Design provided the expert help they needed and created a place that meets their lifestyle habits.
To play up the home’s calm and collected look, Alan designed a full-height TV feature wall and extended it across the entire wall with storage cabinets. Sections of the cabinets were made into recessed niches for the homeowners to display their items.
The wall next to the kitchen is completely covered with a tinted mirror that creates the illusion of depth and helps to reflect light around the area. Since the kitchen can be seen from the living area, Alan selected similar neutral-hued laminates for the top-hung cabinets to keep with the colour theme.
Behind the living room, Alan turned a spare bedroom into a TV room for the family. While the spacious living room is the perfect gathering point for them to host and entertain, the cosy TV room is purely for fun and relaxation. Part of the wall was hacked away and replaced with metal-framed glass panels, allowing this space to serve as a visual extension of the living area.
