Following the shortlist announcement for Outstanding Landed Home, we’re proud to announce the six projects that are in the running to be named “Best Space for Entertaining” in the Lookbox Design Awards 2017. Find out which will take home the gold at the main awards event, which will be held on 14 December – save the date!

These are the projects our international judging panel has picked as some of the most stylish entertaining spaces in Singapore homes:

1) Project name: Tavistock
Project type: Semi-detached house
Firm: Scale Studio

About the project: This is a home with a clear segregation between the public and private spaces, yet is open and welcoming . It features a design that plays up the idea of a grand arrival in the living area, befitting of the homeowners’ entertaining style and their love for hosting guests.

2) Project name: Basement Delights
Project type: 4-storey detached house
Firm: KNQ Associates

About the project: In the basement of this house, an elegant home cinema and karaoke room doubles as a second living room for visiting guests. There is also space for the family to enjoy table tennis together, and plenty of room for holding larger family gatherings.

3) Project name: The Duchess
Project type: 2-bedroom condominium unit
Firm: Hall Interiors

About the project: Effective space planning improves the natural lighting conditions and promotes social interaction in this home belonging to a bachelor who enjoys hosting guests. A highlight and focal point is the cantilevered kitchen island.

4) Project name: Color Palette

Project type: 3-bedroom condominium unit
Firm: 7 Interior Architecture

About the project: The homeowners enjoy wine and whiskey, cooking and having immediate family and close friends over, so the layout was reworked to optimise the apartment for entertaining. Its design also factors in child safety, providing visibility from the kitchen to let the homeowners keep an eye on the young children while doing prep work.

5) Project name: Happiness With Colors
Project type: HDB flat
Firm: Linear Space Concepts

About the project: The flat was to have a chic and vibrant look, and its design to revolve around interaction. An open layout with functional and decorative built-in elements allows the small-space home to be comfortable and social.

6) Project name: Trevista

Project type: 3-bedroom condominium unit
Firm: SSplusD

About the project: For a home centred around cooking and gathering, an spacious open kitchen and ample space for mingling is key. The various spaces were designed to be interconnected, but zoned visually through the arrangement of furniture and material finishes.
