Often, homeowners have a rough idea of how they want their homes to look. The task of putting it together coherently then falls on the interior designer. “The couple had a few things on their wishlist, especially when it came to colour, such as blue kitchen cabinets, and pink and gold in the bathroom,” says Chris Zhang of Plush Interior Design.
The unit, which took three months to renovate, had a layout that made it possible to have an open-concept kitchen. By opening up the kitchen entrance, Chris was able to conceptualise an island to front it. Now the centrepiece in the home, this custom design also includes a generously sized dining table.
To one side of this space, an arch-shaped seating area is carved out of a full-height shoe storage unit. For a sense of warmth and cosiness, Chris proposed wood-look vinyl flooring, which complements the seating area.
Chris decked out the kitchen in blue and white. By cladding the upper cabinets in white and open shelves in wood, he brought a sense of balance and airiness to the space. Gold handles and faucet elevate the understated matte finish of the surfaces.
Gold accents make their way into the common bathroom too. The colour pink dominates this space and is complemented with smart black and white tiles to achieve a crisp and lively looking interior.
The bedroom exudes a restful ambience with its soft grey and white palette. To optimise space without sacrificing comfort, it has been designed with a slim custom desk that can double up as a vanity table. This is seamlessly connected to an ample L-shaped wardrobe for the couple.
Lastly, Chris designed the master bathroom with a similar blue and white palette, carefully customising the cabinet to accommodate the space constraints.
