Every square inch of this six-bedroom, three-storey bungalow is a picture of polished sophistication, thanks to the designers at The Interior Library, who are experts when it comes to recreating classic designs for contemporary living.

The living room is without a doubt the pièce de résistance of the home. The walls are boldly clad in striped wallpaper, with an ornate full-length bevelled mirror anchoring one end of the space. Even the ceiling is a feature element, with its coffered design punctuated by a grand chandelier. Completing this elaborate scene is a family of vibrantly hued tufted sofas, lounges and day seats that provide more than enough space for luxurious lounging.

In the kitchen, the designers have astutely balanced the classical aesthetic with modern functionality. A stainless steel back splash, modern fixtures and top-of-the-line appliances stand in beautiful contrast to the ornate cabinetry, and the end result is a space that’s well-equipped to meet the demands of contemporary life.

The bedrooms are not just for rest, but also to impress. Ornate mouldings, trims and cornices give this room above its distinct personality, while the domed ceiling harkens back to the renaissance era. The Interior Library has deliberately kept to a pristine palette of cream and white, and contrasted it with a colourful Baroque-styled wallpaper for maximum effect.

The extravagant detailing continues in the bathroom, this time in the form of a whimsical mosaic wall. The abstract design is reminiscent of blossoming flowers or playful stars – depending on how you perceive it.
