These days, luxury is not about loud, over-the-top decorative flourishes. Rather, subtlety and elegance are hallmarks of the sophisticated life. For a young family living in an apartment in Goldenhill Park condominium, a home that reflects quiet, tasteful living is exactly what they wanted. For this, they approached Don Tan of Bixente Design for help.
The living area is an oasis of soothing grey tones – a refreshing change from the stark white spaces local home owners prefer. The feature wall is but a simple grey wall of steel-coloured laminating bordered by a mirror frame. “The home owners didn’t want a full mirror so I just incorporated a band of it,” says Don, who explains that adding that bit of mirror helps to elevate the feel of the space to something more sophisticated. The rest of the furnishings like the carpet, curtain and sofa offer subtle textures in grey.
