While Singaporean homeowners often opt for a safe palette of beiges and whites, the owners of this 5-room HDB flat loved dark colours and wanted their home to reflect that.

The designers from three-d conceptwerke have thus chosen a moody colour scheme of greys and blacks. A raw brick wall stretches across the entire length of the living room and the overall atmosphere is that of a dark and rugged space that the family can retreat into

The open plan kitchen features black painted walls and dark woodgrain surfaces. The kitchen’s confining walls have been replaced by a half-height counter clad in hollow bricks. This allows the kitchen to retain its gallery layout while remaining separate from the connecting living room. A row of pendant lamps provide additional illumination while breaking up the hard, masculine lines in this space.

One of the three bedrooms in the flat has been converted into a dressing room, while another is now a study. The latter is accentuated by rivets and bolts along the walls and doors, evoking strong industrial vibes that add to the personality of this home. The entrance to the room has been relocated, providing the master bedroom and dressing room with more privacy.

The master bedroom is a vision of zen and tranquility. The monochromatic grey scheme continues, albeit in a lighter shade on the walls and ceiling. Caged pendant lamps serve as the sole source of illumination when night falls.
