Floor Area: 1,407 sqft

Cement-like surfaces, brick-like tiles and stucco finishing are the tasteful details that make up this family home. Part of the home’s appeal is the muted, industrial colour palette that allows accent lighting and furniture to stand out, proving that grey surfaces can be the perfect backdrop for your furnishings to take centreplace in your home.

With two young kids and a frisky dog in tow, the homeowners wanted Rhiss Interior to focus on practical spaces and chic detailing. Swathed in shades of grey, the living room has a sense of elegance and understated sophistication. Instead of a console, the audio-visual equipment finds a home in the recessed shelf built into the wall. Fabric curtains and a leather sofa gives the living room a homely feel.

The entrance to the kitchen has been opened up to encourage a more natural flow of space and light. With its new layout, the designers from Rhiss Interior dressed the kitchen in cement lookalike laminates and brick-like tiles to create a highly contrasting look.

The bedroom also sports a similar grey colour scheme. Capitalising on the height of the room, the designers came up with a bunk bed idea that effectively splits the room into two. The top section is for sleeping while the bottom section houses a built-in table for homework and play.

From the English-style sofa to the marble top dining table and salvaged wood dining bench, these design influences blend together with fabulous shades of grey to create an unexpected success.
