At 968sqft, the size of this four-room HDB flat in Punggol is just what you would expect from most new homes in Singapore. When the first-time homeowners – a young couple – purchased the place, they knew that they wanted something different. In fact, they requested for a home that wouldn’t look like a typical HDB apartment.

Given the small floor area, the design team had to hack down several walls to open up the space. One of the unique features in this home is that there is no sign of a dining area. This is a deliberate choice that helps to perpetuate the illusion of space. Other efforts include the low=profile furniture and custom-built console, as well as a projector TV with a retractable screen.
