Meet the six new additions to the PLAYplay collection of furniture, designed by Lanzavecchia + Wai for Journey East.

Design studio Lanzavecchia + Wai made waves around the world last year when it released its PLAYplay collection of furniture, in collaboration with Journey East. A year later, the design collective introduces six newcomers to the popular collection.
The furniture pieces in the expanded collection are made from oak, but are also available in Indonesian mahogany, and comprise a sofa, tall shelves, consoles and a desk. True to its name, the PLAYplay collection is exuberant and fun, with bold colours that promise to brighten up any contemporary home. At the same time, Lanzavecchia + Wai made sure that the pieces are functional, accessible and versatile.
Some of our instant-favourites are the Rail consoles – available in two lengths. Boasting bright colours and metal piping, these low consoles feature front sliding panels clad with wooden strips to create an arresting lenticular effect.
The Rail desk and Rail side console are two other standout pieces. The slim metal piping form the skeleton of these pieces, encouraging a sense of lightness and transparency. Their minimalist form and slim design make them ideal for compact homes and smaller rooms. We can imagine the Rail side console sitting comfortably in a narrow hallway or next to the main entrance of an HDB flat.
Ever playful, the inventive Gridlock shelves and console are designed to delight the eyes. The contrast of wood grain and coloured surfaces look almost as if two separate pieces have collided together to form one harmonious design.
